We would like to introduce the Picture of the Month taken by Petr Jan Juračka. Photography partaying a rare form of aragonite was taken using Nikon Z7 II, Nikkor Z MC 50 mm f/2,8 Macro, 1/4 sec., f/10, ISO 64, and is actually a macrophotography composed of 120 individual frames. This rare aragonite form arises from warm, highly mineralised water. Small, floating mineral grains are during precipitation process covered by several layers of calcium carbonate untill they become too heavy and form sediment.
This photography was taken in Karlovy Vary, a typical locality for these beautiful forms of aragonite.
