We would like to introduce the winners and participants of the Nerd Art Prize like the picture of the month. In June is it a picture by Ing. Hedvika Rimnacova, doctoral student from Biomedical Center, Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen, Charles University.
Her picture is a fluorescent picture of mouse spermatozoa staining for interesting posttranslational modification (PTM) of cysteine residua, S-sulfenylation (red). This PTM is involved in regulation of oxidative stress in many cells types, but may play other roles in sperm physiology. S-sulfenylation staining was combinated with Live/Dead staining (blue) in the picture. The picture was taken by confocal microscopy (Biomedical Center).
