We would like to introduce the winners and participants of the Nerd Art Prize as the picture of the month. In December it is a picture of human schromosomes by Dr. Pavel Dvořák, from Department of Biology, Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen, Charles University. The image shows human chromosomes hybridized with fluorescent probes binding to the regions of the ATM (green signal) and TP53 (red signal) genes. For observation under a fluorescence miroscope, the chromosomes were visualised by DAPI blue staining. It is an examination of cultured lymphocytes in a patient with B chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
