Looking back at the Summer School of Experimental Surgery 2022

From Monday, July 4 to Friday, July 15, the 9th Summer School of Experimental Surgery took place. The summer school was attended by 33 students from 6 universities from 3 European countries, including the Czech Republic.

The summer school programme starts with theoretical preparation. The workshop is interspersed with lectures on experimental and human surgery. Among the lecturers, a number of foreign experts have appeared again this year. All lectures were open to the public. Prof. Dr. med. Uta Dahmen from Universitätsklinikum Jena with her lecture Small animal experiments, Prof. Dr. med. Pierre-Alain Clavien from Universitätsspital Zürich with his lecture Liver Surgery, Prof. Dr. Inge Herrmann from the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering, ETH Zürich with her lecture Innovating Medical Materials and Technology, her colleague from the same department, ETH Zürich, Dr. Alexandre H. C. Anthis and his lecture Robust and Intelligent Adhesives for the Abdominal Cavity, Dr. M.M.A. Monique Verstegen, Ph.D. from Erasmus MC, Rotterdam with her lecture Design by Nature; Emerging Applications of Extracellular Matrix for Liver Regenerative Medicine. Last but not least, ERA Chair holder Prof. Kari Hemminki gave his lecture entitled Survival in cancer at the summer school.
