From May 20th to 22nd, another installment of the regular scientific meeting took place, bringing together collaborating research teams of not only the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen but also experts from the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Czech Academy of Sciences and from the National Institute of Public Health. The meeting called The Benefits of Pharmacogenomics for the Diagnostics and Treatment of Generalized Colorectal Carcinoma was held for the eleventh time close to the natural wonders of the Šumava National Park near the village of Čachrov. In total, 43 researchers participated, including also our new foreign colleagues and students this year. The agenda consisted mostly of presentations of recent research results of individual participants. The event was also a coordination meeting of the project UNCE/MED/006: Centrum of clinical and experimental liver surgery and a part of the series of Lab meetings of the Chaperon Horizon 2020 project. The program was divided into two evenings, both packed with research presentations followed by vivid discussion. There was also time for new research topic proposals and discussion of technical, organizational, and scientific issues of the ongoing projects. Also, Saturday morning was dedicated to a hike to the Pancíř mountain, which was endorsed by beautiful sunny weather. The meeting provided an extraordinary inspiration and motivation for further research and, last but not least, it helped to bring the collaborating teams closer again after the covid-induced isolation.
